Molte Yoga and Running Retreats

Deepen your practice and hone your skills

in 2016

Set at the Diamond J Ranch with endless trails in every direction, Running OM weaves together our favorite activities of trail running and yoga along with spectacular mountain views and delicious food. Laugh and learn along side trail running sensation Nikki Kimball, balance out effort and ease in the body with yoga and meditation instructor Amy Strom, reconnect with your true self as you soak up the beauty and bounty of the Montana mountains.

The weekend includes:

  • Biomechanics and injury prevention workshop with Team North Face athlete, ultra runner and physical therapist Nikki Kimball.
    • The workshop will look at methods of predicting, and therefore avoiding, running-related injuries, keeping in mind that our bodies change over time. Past injuries, pregnancies and other physical stresses of our active lives impact our bodies in complicated ways, which present unique challenges to each runner.
    • No single fix exists for a particular injury, nor does any one exercise or aspect of running form help every runner. Each of us is unique. We need drills and exercises specific to our own current situation. Even among full-time professional racers much variety exists; running form, areas of tightness, strength, or weakness differ greatly between individuals. Most runners add to these basic variations by fitting their running into a life complete with kids, careers, relationships and other commitments. The workshop provides you with tools to avoid common injuries as well as methods of managing individual concerns.
  • Trail run and personal coaching with Nikki. Taking what was covered in the workshop onto the trail. Trail running is different than running on busy city streets. Rather than stop lights and cars, we’ll navigate our way over rocks and roots, through wildflower meadows up to a scenic mountain vista with only the sound of our breath (we’re at altitude so there’s no doubt we’ll be breathing hard) and nature all around.
  • Private showing of “Finding Traction” with Nikki. This Montana PBS documentary presents the inspirational story of Nikki’s quest to become the fastest person in history to run America’s oldest hiking trail, the 273-mile Long Trail. The film asks what drives her to attempt such an incredible feat, and follows Nikki’s journey from its beginning - training and racing in the Rocky mountains - to her actual record attempt through Vermont’s beautiful but brutal Green Mountains. • Daily yoga sessions with yoga and meditation instructor, and personal trainer, Amy Strom. The practice will be geared to runners and will be a blend of Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Meditaiton. Open to all levels.
  • Wholesome, nourishing and delicious meals specially prepared by ranch’s fabulous chef. If you have a food allergy or intolerance let us know in advance and we’re happy to accommodate. Retreat meals include: Thursday: dinner; Friday and Saturday: breakfast, lunch and dinner; Sunday: brunch.
  • Free time for seated or walking meditation, hot tub soaking, star gazing, journaling and relaxing with fellow retreaters.
  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday night cozy log cabin accommodations. Single or double occupancy available.

Travel planning:

  • Shuttles from the airport are available, however, for your convenience we recommend you rent a car. It’s about a 90-minute drive from the airport. The drive is a great buffer between busy city life and relaxed Montana ranch life as you leave the airport and drive through the beautiful Madison Valley and end slowly winding down a dirt road to the ranch. Watch for deer, elk, antelope and bears along the way!
  • If you have the time, we highly recommend you add on a day or two before or after the retreat to soak up more Montana goodness. If you need lodging or activity ideas let us know, we’re happy to help!
  • Retreat meals do not include beer or wine, but you are welcome to BYOB. Belgrade Liquor is a convenient stop as you’re leaving the airport heading to Ennis.
  • The ranch is at an approximate altitude of 5,800 feet. To prepare for your travel and comfort, we recommend drinking more water than usual in the days leading up to your departure.
